Built Year 1857 – Powder Magazine
Cost $35,000.00Here is one of the finest examples of the stonecutter’s art to be found in California. The vaulted ceiling and modified Corinthian pillars were hand-carved from native sandstone & placed by French, Italian, and Irish craftsmen contracted by the United States Government. The walls are four-foot thick solid sandstone.
