In the late 1880s this quarry was was owned and operated by the Western Granite and Marble Company of San Jose, Santa Clara County, California. It is also reported that the granite from this quarry was used for part of the construction of the Mark Hopkins mausoleum located in the old Sacramento City Cemetery in Sacramento.
There was a railroad stop at Yuba Pass, which was situated between Yuba Gap and Crystal Lake. In the 1895 U. S. Atlas, the listing reads as follows: City or town name: Yuba Pass; Population: --; County: Placer; Area of State: Central; Has Post Office ? No; Has Railroad ? Yes; Has Express Office? No.
